Work of Art is a children’s picture book about a Little Girl who longs to be a beautiful work of art. She admires the paintings hanging in her classroom and wishes people would gather around her the same way. One day she makes the biggest wish of her life and wakes up in a vast white space drawn by a giant hand.

At first everything feels exciting. A goofy green giraffe appears. Then a big bouncy blue ball. When she gets her own set of markers she draws anything her heart imagines until the space grows so crowded that nothing can move. In that quiet moment she begins to see that the way things were before might have been better after all.

With simple words and warm illustrations, Work of Art helps children discover a lasting truth. They do not have to become a work of art. In God’s eyes they already are one. Drawing from Psalm 139:14, the story speaks to comparison, the pull of our own desires, and the freedom of resting in the way God made us.

Especially meaningful for young girls, this book offers parents and teachers a natural way to talk about identity, contentment, and the goodness of God’s design. It is a story that ends not with applause from others but with the quiet, solid knowledge that we are already fearfully and wonderfully made.
